Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has dismissed allegations made by President William Ruto that he is financially supporting opposition groups. Speaking in Kitale, Trans Nzoia County, Uhuru emphasized his entitlement to remain politically active despite no longer holding office.
The remarks came during the 23rd memorial service of the late Vice President Michael Kijana Wamalwa, where opposition leaders also called for unity and the selection of a single presidential candidate to challenge President Ruto in the 2027 elections.
Calls for Opposition Unity
Opposition figures used the occasion to renew their appeal for a consolidated front ahead of the next general election, aiming to strengthen their position against the incumbent administration.
Uhuru's response highlights the ongoing political tensions as Kenya approaches the 2027 polls, with both ruling and opposition camps positioning themselves strategically.
