Ukambani Leaders Endorse President Ruto Ahead of 2027 General Election
Ukambani MPs and leaders urge residents to back President William Ruto, highlighting development projects and a broad-based government ahead of 2027 polls.

A group of Ukambani lawmakers and leaders have intensified efforts to mobilize support for President William Ruto as the 2027 General Election approaches.
On Sunday, August 23, 2026, Kitui South MP Rachel Kaki Nyamai, who chairs the Kitui UDA leaders caucus, emphasized President Ruto's commitment to ensuring that counties in the Ukambani region, including Kitui, Machakos, and Makueni, are not left behind in development initiatives.
Nyamai made the remarks during an inspection of ongoing road construction linking Ikutha, Kanziku, and Mutha in Kitui County. She assured residents that the road works are progressing steadily, reflecting the administration's focus on infrastructure.
"The President has made it clear that no county should lag behind. He does not want Kitui, Machakos, or Makueni to be left out," Nyamai stated.
Similarly, Nominated Senator Beth Syengo, who serves as the Women League leader of ODM, praised President Ruto for incorporating ODM into a broad-based government. She described this inclusive administration as one aimed at uniting Kenyans and accelerating development.
"President Ruto accepted ODM into the government to create a broad-based administration. This is a government for everyone, promoting unity and development. We have seen tangible actions under his leadership," Syengo said.
Former Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu also expressed support for the President’s development agenda, highlighting the proposed Vision 2060 as a roadmap for Kenya’s long-term growth. Mutambu noted that starting next month, the government plans to cover university tuition fees, easing the financial burden on students.
"The President has indicated that by 2060, we must have a vision guiding all Kenyans. He also announced that from next month, no student will pay university fees as the government will take over," Mutambu explained.
The ongoing campaign by Ukambani leaders underscores their confidence in President Ruto’s administration, particularly its focus on infrastructure, economic programs, and inclusive governance, as key factors for the region’s progress ahead of the 2027 polls.
