Lawyer Angela Mulwa Charged with Murder in Dr Victoria Mutiso Case
Angela Mulwa faces a High Court murder charge over Dr Victoria Mutiso's killing, with investigations ongoing and plea date pending.

Lawyer Angela Mulwa has been formally charged with murder in connection to the killing of Dr Victoria Nthunya Mutiso. The charge was filed before the High Court, as confirmed by State prosecutor Jalson Makori at Milimani Law Court.
Mulwa was arrested on August 20 and held at Industrial Area Police Station over the weekend. Her legal team requested disclosure of the plea-taking date, but the prosecution stated that the High Court has yet to schedule it.
Earlier investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) implicated Mulwa among suspects potentially involved in Dr Mutiso’s July 29 shooting in Upper Hill, Nairobi. Forensic evidence recovered from the scene includes spent cartridges and bullet fragments.
Authorities have reviewed CCTV footage, call records, and examined several vehicles and a motorcycle linked to the case. The probe is exploring multiple motives, including a land dispute over parcel L.R. No. 1504/13, which is subject to ongoing court proceedings in Machakos.
Detectives revealed that Dr Mutiso had reported prior attempts on her life, including being followed and surviving an earlier attack, which was reported at Kilimani Police Station.
The DCI alleges Mulwa was involved in an eviction and demolition related to the contested property and had knowledge of parties connected to the land conflict. Investigators have expressed concerns that Mulwa might interfere with witnesses or evidence, hence opposing her release.
Other individuals under investigation include Rose Mbithe Mulwa, Chris Mulwa, Elijah Kibelion Kimoi, Daniel Mwangi Njoroge, and Kelvin Ngugi Kinuthia. Some suspects, including senior police officers, remain at large as the inquiry continues.
The investigation is described as active and intelligence-led, with authorities seeking additional time to finalize the case for submission to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Mulwa’s next procedural step will be to enter a plea once the High Court sets a date.
