Former President Uhuru Kenyatta made a significant visit to Kitale on Sunday, August 23, to attend the 23rd annual memorial service for the late Vice-President Michael Kijana Wamalwa. The event was held at the Wamalwa family’s Milimani residence in Trans Nzoia County.
During the ceremony, Uhuru Kenyatta laid a wreath at Wamalwa’s grave, a gesture captured and shared by Citizen TV journalist Emmanuel Too. The gravesite, designed in a mausoleum style, was decorated with portraits of the late politician and featured the inscription "Kenya Mourns a Patriot," honoring Wamalwa’s dedication to public service.
In addition to the wreath-laying, Kenyatta officially launched a biography titled My Country First, commemorating Wamalwa’s life and legacy. Kenyatta personally contributed by writing the foreword for the book.

The memorial attracted prominent political leaders, turning the Wamalwa family home into a hub of national significance. Among those present were Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, former presidential candidate Martha Karua, Eugene Wamalwa, and former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu.
