Safaricom Launches M-Pesa Cost Calculator on MyOne App Amid Fee Reductions
Safaricom introduces a cost calculator on MyOne App enabling instant M-Pesa fee checks as it cuts charges for business transactions nationwide.
Safaricom has unveiled a new cost calculator feature within its MyOne App, allowing users to instantly determine M-Pesa transaction and withdrawal fees. This move coincides with the rollout of reduced tariffs for key business payment services across Kenya.
Enhanced Transparency with Cost Calculator
The telecom giant’s customer care confirmed that customers can now easily access fee information without needing to search externally. The feature aims to simplify fee awareness for everyday M-Pesa users.
Revised Tariffs for Business Transactions
Starting August 2026, Safaricom introduced phased tariff adjustments under its PATA MORE campaign, focusing on three main business payment categories:
- Pochi la Biashara: Transactions up to KSh 200 are now free, doubling the previous threshold. The maximum charge for payments between KSh 2,501 and KSh 250,000 is capped at KSh 50, down from KSh 108.
- Lipa na M-Pesa Buy Goods: Collections up to KSh 500 are free, an increase from the earlier KSh 200 limit. The 0.55% fee for amounts between KSh 201 and KSh 500 has been removed.
- M-Pesa Business Till Transfers: Fees have been slashed by up to 50% for small businesses. For example, transfers between KSh 101 and KSh 500 now cost KSh 4, reduced from KSh 7, and charges on higher-value transfers have similarly been halved.
Supporting Business Growth and Affordability
Safaricom stated that these pricing revisions align with the Central Bank of Kenya’s guidelines on customer-centricity, transparency, fairness, competition, and affordability. The adjustments are intended to lower digital payment costs and foster business expansion nationwide.
