Governor’s Security Officer Hands Over Firearm Amid Kwa Hola Shooting Probe
A security officer for Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has surrendered a firearm to police as investigations continue into the Kwa Hola shooting incident.

A police corporal assigned to Governor Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir's security detail has handed over his firearm to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) following a shooting incident in Kwa Hola.
Corporal Kelvin Macharia, attached to the Tourist Police Unit, surrendered a Ceska pistol loaded with 12 rounds of ammunition. The weapon will undergo ballistic tests to help investigators determine its involvement in the incident.
Ongoing Investigation
Mombasa County Police Commander Stella Cherono confirmed that police have launched inquiries to establish the facts surrounding the shooting. No arrests have been made so far as detectives continue gathering testimonies from witnesses and security personnel present at the scene.
Members of Governor Nassir’s security team have also provided statements to aid the investigation. The ballistic examination of the surrendered firearm is a key part of piecing together the events leading to the shooting.
Police Advisory
Commander Cherono urged officers to exercise caution when handling firearms, emphasizing the need to carefully assess situations before drawing or discharging weapons. This reminder comes as authorities work to clarify the circumstances that led to the Kwa Hola shooting.
