Gachagua Consoles Family of Late MP Johanna Ng’eno After Brother’s Death
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua mourns with Johanna Ng’eno’s family following the passing of his brother Paul Ng’eno, pledging support amid their loss.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has extended his condolences to the family of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johanna Ng’eno, following the death of his brother, Paul Ng’eno.
In a message shared on social media on Saturday, August 23, 2026, Gachagua expressed sympathy to their mother, Mary Temas, acknowledging the profound pain the family is enduring after losing two sons within a short span.
Gachagua's message of comfort
"Pole sana on the loss of your son, Mr. Paul Ng’eno, who had been hospitalized for a while," he wrote, urging the family to seek solace in faith despite the difficult circumstances. He recognized that the loss of two sons in quick succession is an immense burden, and encouraged them to find strength in God’s grace.
Hospitalization and financial challenges
Paul Ng’eno had been receiving treatment at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), where his medical bill reportedly reached Ksh1.8 million. Prior to his passing, Mary Temas had appealed to Gachagua for assistance in settling the hospital fees to facilitate her son’s discharge.
Gachagua’s commitment
Responding to the plea, Gachagua pledged to clear the outstanding bill and criticized the government for neglecting promises made to the family during the late MP’s burial. He also committed to supporting Mary Temas with her medical expenses and daily needs.
Mausoleum construction
Mary Temas requested help from Gachagua to build a mausoleum for Johanna Ng’eno, whose grave remains exposed to the elements due to unfulfilled government pledges. Gachagua agreed to assist, asking Mary to provide her preferred design to facilitate the project.
This support comes after Johanna Ng’eno tragically died in a helicopter crash in Mosop on February 28, 2026, leaving the family in mourning.
