Rigathi Gachagua served as Kenya's second Deputy President from 2022 until his impeachment in October 2024, marking the first time a holder of the office was removed through impeachment. His successor, Kithure Kindiki, took over the position following Gachagua's departure.

Since leaving office, Gachagua has reinvented his political career by leading the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), positioning himself as a vocal critic of the current government.
