David Maraga, former Chief Justice and co-leader of the United Green Movement (UGM), is set to embark on a three-week tour of the United States starting September 17, 2026. The visit aims to strengthen ties with the Kenyan diaspora as the country prepares for the 2027 General Election.
Maraga highlighted the importance of the diaspora as integral partners in Kenya’s development and democratic processes, not merely as sources of remittances. "Our Constitution recognizes the Diaspora as full partners in Kenya's future, not just a source of remittances," he said.
Itinerary and Objectives
During the tour, Maraga will engage with Kenyan communities across multiple states including Delaware, Texas, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Georgia. The engagements will involve listening to diaspora concerns, sharing his political vision, and fostering dialogue on Kenya's governance and constitutionalism.
This outreach builds on Maraga’s earlier Ukatiba Caravan, which covered 43 counties nationwide earlier in 2026, where he consulted Kenyans on governance and democratic issues.
