William Ruto Rules Out Political Talks with Rigathi Gachagua Ahead of 2027 Poll

President William Ruto has clarified his stance on political collaborations ahead of the 2027 general elections, explicitly ruling out any talks with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

During a recent interview, Dr. Ruto emphasized his openness to working with various political leaders but drew a firm line against those he accuses of promoting ethnic division and using derogatory language, traits he associates with Gachagua.

"I am a democrat, and in Kenya, people work with everybody," Ruto stated. However, he added that cooperation is impossible with leaders who undermine national cohesion through tribal or ethnic insults.

In a separate development, former President Uhuru Kenyatta criticized what he perceives as attempts to limit political expression ahead of the elections. Speaking at the memorial service of former Vice President Michael Kijana Wamalwa in Kitale, Uhuru condemned efforts to silence political opponents and affirmed Kenyans' right to freely choose their leaders.

"Freedom for Kenyans is to be able to elect the leaders they want. I’m here to defend that freedom," Uhuru declared, warning that restricting political rights threatens the country's democratic progress.
