Super Metro Denies Transporting Goons to Disrupt Gachagua’s Kirinyaga Rally

Super Metro has dismissed allegations that its buses were used to ferry goons intending to disrupt former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's political rally in Kirinyaga County.

In a statement released on Monday, August 24, the popular public service vehicle (PSV) operator clarified that the buses spotted in the region on Sunday, August 23, were transporting secondary school students from AIC Church Ziwani in Nairobi. The students were heading to Kathandeni Forest in Gichugu Constituency for a recreational hike.

Super Metro emphasized:

• The students had no connection to political events or activities in Kirinyaga.
• The buses were not involved in any form of political disruption.

The clarification followed viral videos circulating on social media showing several Super Metro buses in Kirinyaga ahead of Gachagua's Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) rally. Some political figures, including Kirinyaga Woman Representative Njeri Maina, accused the company of transporting troublemakers linked to the political gathering.

Maina cautioned Super Metro against facilitating violence, warning of possible legal repercussions should any unrest occur at the rally.

Meanwhile, Gachagua continues to intensify his campaign efforts in the Mount Kenya region ahead of the 2027 General Election. The incident comes amid heightened concerns over political violence, with recent clashes at other rallies, such as the Linda Mwananchi event in Homa Bay, resulting in fatalities and injuries.
