On the night of August 15, 2026, supporters were recorded chanting energetically through the streets of Homa Bay, signalling strong grassroots enthusiasm. Sifuna praised the movement's advance teams for their late-night efforts to prepare for the Sunday rally.
Significance of the Homa Bay Rally
The event, set for August 16, 2026, is seen as a critical test for Linda Mwananchi's ability to expand its support base beyond its traditional strongholds. Homa Bay is historically an ODM bastion, making the rally a focal point in the lead-up to the 2027 General Election.
Sifuna will lead the rally alongside Siaya Governor James Orengo, who has rejected attempts to block their entry into the county. Orengo emphasized constitutional rights to freedom of movement, association, and peaceful assembly as justification for proceeding with the event.
