Authorities in Migori County are investigating the fatal stabbing of Peter Barante Mogesi, who was attacked on August 9, 2026, at Kogori Village.
Mogesi was clearing land alongside his 13-year-old grandson when his nephew allegedly confronted him wielding a panga. The victim sustained severe wounds to his right cheek, neck, and chest, and was declared dead at the scene.
Local assistant chief Nyansiri Jones promptly reported the incident to police, who documented the crime scene before transferring Mogesi's body to Wima Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. The suspect fled and remains at large as police pursue a manhunt.

- In a separate case, Hesborn Oketch Owuor, aged 26, was found dead with multiple head injuries in Ang'ogo area, Awendo Sub-County. Preliminary investigations suggest he was attacked by unidentified assailants while returning home from Rakwaro Trading Centre around 2:30 a.m.
- Also, in Nairobi, an unidentified man was discovered unconscious on Kikuyu Road early on August 10, 2026, with injuries including a broken left hand and bleeding from the mouth and nose. Despite efforts by police officers to secure ambulance services, the man died at Mutuini Level 4 Hospital. His body was taken to Nairobi Funeral Home awaiting identification and further examination.
Police continue to investigate all three incidents to establish circumstances and identify those responsible.
