In Migori County, a 42-year-old M-Pesa operator was injured during a robbery at his shop in Moss Market, Suna East.

The incident took place on Thursday, August 20, 2026, as the operator was closing for the day. Two armed men, reportedly carrying a pistol, forced their way into the shop and stole Sh200,000 before shooting the victim in the left thigh.

The attack also involved an adjacent shop, where the assailants took an additional Sh30,000. The victim sustained multiple injuries, including a gunshot wound to the thigh, a head injury, and bruising on the neck.

He was rushed to Oasis Hospital in Migori town and admitted in stable condition. Police recovered a spent bullet believed to be from a revolver at the scene and have launched an investigation.

Despite public response to the gunshots, the attackers escaped under the cover of darkness. Authorities noted an increase in such robberies in the area and revealed that some suspects involved in similar crimes originate from neighboring countries.

A detective team is actively pursuing leads and has made several arrests, but no one has been apprehended in connection with this latest attack.
