Kenya Power Schedules Power Outages in Six Counties on August 23 for Maintenance
Kenya Power will conduct planned maintenance causing power outages in Nairobi, Kajiado, Uasin Gishu, Laikipia, Nyeri, and Kilifi on August 23.
Kenya Power has announced scheduled power outages across six counties on Sunday, August 23, 2026, to facilitate essential maintenance work on the electricity network.
Counties and Areas Affected
- Nairobi: Eastleigh, South 1 New Industrial, and South 2 New Industrial areas will experience outages from 9am to 5pm. Key affected spots include Kiambiu, Eldoret Road, KCB Likoni Road, and Range Road among others.
- Kajiado: Kitengela area will have power off from 9am to 5pm, impacting locations such as Accacia, Maasai Flowers, Enkacity Resort, and Kajiado East Technical.
- Uasin Gishu: Power will be interrupted from 8am to 5pm around Kipkeino School, St. Jacobs School, and Kaptich.
- Laikipia: The entire Nanyuki and Mukima areas will be affected from 8am to 3pm, including Nanyuki Town, Teachers Estate, Laikipia Air Base, and several estates and villages.
- Nyeri: Two outage schedules will be in place from 8am to 4pm. One covers Mukurweini, Wahundura, Mihuti, and the other Nyeri, Mweiga, and Tetu. Karatina Town and surrounding locations will also be affected.
- Kilifi: Ganze and Palakumi areas will face outages from 9am to 5pm, including Magogoni, Ganze Water, and Petanguo.
Purpose and Duration
These planned outages are part of Kenya Power’s routine maintenance aimed at upgrading and repairing the power infrastructure to enhance reliability. Durations vary by location, with some outages lasting up to eight hours.
