Portuguese footballer Quévin Castro tragically passed away at 25 after collapsing during a friendly match between Real Sport Clube and Estrela da Amadora on August 22.
Castro began his professional career at West Bromwich Albion in 2021, making his senior debut in a Carabao Cup game against Arsenal and his league debut in February 2022. He had loan spells at Burton Albion, Notts County, and Gateshead before leaving West Brom in 2023.
Following his departure, Castro played for several English clubs including York City, King's Lynn, Chippenham, Cambridge City, and Eastbourne, before returning to Portugal to continue his career.
Both Real Sport Clube, the club he represented at the time of his collapse, and Estrela da Amadora, the opposing team, expressed profound condolences to his family, friends, and teammates.
West Bromwich Albion also mourned the loss, announcing plans to honour Castro during their next match against Burnley with players wearing black armbands and observing a minute of applause in the 25th minute.
