Kenya Meteorological Department Issues Weeklong Weather Outlook, Rainfall Expected in 13 Counties
Kenya Met forecasts generally dry weather with rains in 13 counties and temperatures ranging from below 10°C at night to over 30°C during the day until August 31.

The Kenya Meteorological Department has released a seven-day weather forecast covering August 25 to 31, 2026, indicating mostly dry conditions across the country with localized rainfall in several counties.
Rainfall and Cloud Cover
- Rain is expected in parts of Kilifi, Mombasa, Kwale, Tana River, Lamu, Kirinyaga, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi, Nyeri, Murang’a, Garissa, Bungoma, and Trans Nzoia Counties.
- Morning showers will be common in coastal counties including Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi, Tana River, and Lamu.
- Afternoon showers and thunderstorms may occur in Bungoma and Trans Nzoia, with additional afternoon rains in the coastal and some central counties.
- Intermittent cloudiness is anticipated in Embu, Kiambu, Kirinyaga, Laikipia, Meru, Murang’a, Nairobi, Nyandarua, Nyeri, Tharaka-Nithi, Nakuru, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, Marsabit, and Wajir.
Temperature Trends
- Daytime temperatures are forecast to exceed 30°C in Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo, Marsabit, and Turkana.
- Nighttime lows may drop below 10°C in Meru, Tharaka-Nithi, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nakuru, Narok, Kajiado, and Taita Taveta.
General Weather Conditions
- Sunny intervals are expected across much of Baringo, Bomet, Busia, Elgeyo Marakwet, Garissa, Homa Bay, Isiolo, Kakamega, Kericho, Kisii, Kisumu, Kitui, Makueni, Mandera, Migori, Nandi, Narok, Nyamira, Samburu, Siaya, Trans Nzoia, Turkana, Uasin Gishu, Vihiga, and West Pokot.
- Nighttime will see partly cloudy conditions in many counties including Bomet, Bungoma, Busia, Elgeyo Marakwet, Homa Bay, Kajiado, Kakamega, Kericho, Kiambu, Kisii, Kisumu, Kitui, Laikipia, Machakos, Makueni, Mandera, Marsabit, Meru, Migori, Nairobi, Nakuru, Nandi, Narok, Nyamira, Nyandarua, Samburu, Siaya, Taita Taveta, Trans Nzoia, Turkana, Uasin Gishu, Vihiga, Wajir, and West Pokot.
Residents are advised to prepare for variable weather conditions including possible rainfall in affected counties and to take precautions against temperature fluctuations, especially the cooler nights in highland areas.
