Deputy President candidate and Democratic for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has urged residents of Kirinyaga County to reject newly formed political parties he claims are orchestrated by President William Ruto to fragment the Mt Kenya vote.

Speaking during a rally in Kirinyaga on Sunday, Gachagua emphasized the importance of unity under the DCP banner, which he described as the region's "home party."

"We have our party DCP; don't fall into the trap of William's party wheelbarrow. Our home party is DCP in Kirinyaga and it is our party to look for our government," he stated.

He further accused President Ruto of leveraging key allies, including Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku, to engineer divisions within the Mt Kenya region’s electorate.

Additionally, Gachagua issued a stern warning against aspirants employing violence or hiring goons, promising disqualification for those who do so regardless of their popularity.

"We will not allow aspirants to hire goons. If you hire goons, we will disqualify you, despite how popular you are," he said.

The DCP leader also criticized the current administration for alleged extrajudicial killings and violence targeting youths, calling for rejection of the government responsible.

Kirinyaga Woman Representative Jane Njeri Maina echoed concerns about violence, suggesting it is being instigated to justify postponing elections. Meanwhile, Kirinyaga Senator James Kamau Murango urged youths to avoid being manipulated by politicians to cause unrest.

Prominent leaders accompanying Gachagua included Manyatta MP Gitonga Mukunji, Mukurweini MP John Kaguchia, Tetu MP Geoffrey Wandeto, Kajiado North MP Onesmus Ngogoyo, Kandara MP Chege Njuguna, and Nyandarua Senator John Methu.

Notably, former Kirinyaga Woman Representative Purity Wangui Ngirici was not introduced at the Kiang'ombe event despite calls from her supporters.
