Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Hussein Mohammed has guaranteed residents of Baba Dogo that the Austin Odhiambo Sports Complex, formerly known as Baba Dogo Grounds, will continue serving the community.
Speaking at the Baba Dogo Sports Extravaganza in Nairobi on August 23, Hussein emphasized his longstanding commitment to protecting the playing field, which has been a central football venue for decades.
He reassured locals amid ongoing land disputes, stating, “this field is going nowhere. This pitch will remain for the Baba Dogo community.”
The ground was renamed in honor of Harambee Stars midfielder Austin Odhiambo, following an intervention by President William Ruto in 2025. After Odhiambo appealed for support, Ruto promised to upgrade the facility and officially rebranded it the Austin Odhiambo Sports Complex.
Hussein called for a shift from dispute to action, promising to implement strategies to begin construction and upgrade works promptly.
