Former Chief Justice and United Green Movement presidential hopeful David Maraga is set to visit the United States from September 17 for three weeks to engage with Kenyan diaspora communities.
This announcement follows the conclusion of Maraga's extensive Ukatiba Caravan tour across 43 counties in Kenya, conducted between February and April 2026. The nationwide tour focused on discussing the nation's state and deepening civic engagement.
Maraga emphasized the importance of the 2010 Constitution, which recognizes the critical role of Kenyans living abroad in the country’s development and democratic processes.
Focus on Diaspora Engagement and International Dialogue
- Maraga highlighted that the US is the largest source of diaspora remittances to Kenya, contributing over half of the total inflows.
- He plans to meet diaspora communities in several states including Delaware, Texas, New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Minnesota, and Georgia.
- Additionally, Maraga intends to hold discussions with international leaders during the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The visit aims to strengthen ties between the diaspora and Kenya, while also positioning Maraga’s presidential campaign within a broader international context.
