Caleb Amisi Warns Absence of Edwin Sifuna in 2027 Race Could Trigger Voter Apathy

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has cautioned political leaders against overlooking Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna's growing influence ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

Speaking on Monday, August 24, 2026, Amisi emphasized that Sifuna's appeal transcends his individual persona, representing a broader political movement that many Kenyans, especially the youth, identify with.

Potential Impact of Sifuna's Absence

Amisi warned that removing Sifuna from the ballot could significantly dampen voter enthusiasm, leading to apathy among the electorate. He stressed that many voters are disillusioned with the traditional political landscape and are seeking a new direction.

"Do not underestimate this thing of Sifuna. If you remove him from the ballot, most likely there will be voter apathy," Amisi stated.

Continuity of the Movement

Even if Sifuna chooses not to run, Amisi suggested that the political movement he embodies would persist. Other candidates, such as Eric Latiff, could potentially carry forward the same ideals and rally voter support.

"It is not about Sifuna as a person but the idea he carries. Should he decline, others can step up," Amisi remarked.

Warning of Political Unrest

Amisi also issued a stark warning regarding the current administration, stating that President Ruto's re-election could face strong opposition from a frustrated and restless youth demographic.

"If President Ruto is re-elected, he might face removal through a revolution because the young generation he has frustrated remains determined. It is best for him to step aside," Amisi concluded.
