On August 11, 2026, a preacher named Evod Medson faced an unexpected confrontation while preaching at Kariakoo market in Dar es Salaam. A businesswoman interrupted his sermon, accusing him of disturbing her customers with loud preaching.
Despite the bustling noise typical of the bus stand and market environment, the woman insisted he stop immediately, saying, "We cannot continue with our businesses because of you, you are making a lot of noise. Please allow us work, just shut down this things and leave." Evod tried to explain he was almost done, but she refused to wait.
Choosing not to escalate tensions, Evod calmly packed his speakers and microphone and left the area without argument. Bystanders expressed sympathy and some offered to help find a quieter location for his preaching.
Speaking to GADI TV after the incident, Evod expressed confusion over being singled out in such a noisy environment and questioned why a private individual, rather than local authorities, was enforcing restrictions. He said, "She was saying that I was shouting at her customers. I told her to wait until I finished preaching, but she caused a commotion, so I decided to leave."
Before departing, Evod thanked those who had listened and promised to return in the future by God's grace.
