American preacher Quan Lanae Green was left amused after a roadside encounter with a Kenyan maize vendor who charged her KSh 200 for a single cob of roasted maize along the Mai Mahiu highway.

Green’s driver, Timothy, had previously informed her that the usual price for a cob of roasted maize ranged between KSh 20 and KSh 40. Armed with this knowledge, Green filmed the interaction from inside their Toyota Prado as she confronted the vendor, Joseph.

Price Dispute Sparks Humorous Exchange

Green questioned Joseph on camera about the inflated price, citing the information from her driver and a fellow hawker who confirmed the standard price should not exceed KSh 40. Joseph initially defended his price, claiming that maize could sometimes sell for as much as KSh 1,000 or KSh 2,000 per cob.

Green responded by highlighting the reason for the high charge, pointing out that Joseph had noticed her vehicle and American accent, implying a premium was applied due to perceived affluence.

Resolution with a Lighthearted Deal

Instead of demanding a refund, Green offered Joseph a free cob of maize in exchange for a shoutout on her social media platform. Joseph accepted and promoted his stall to the camera, inviting Green to return.

The video quickly went viral, attracting thousands of views and sparking laughter among Kenyans online. Many praised Green’s handling of the situation and Joseph’s humorous responses.
