Police in Nakuru County have taken into custody a 37-year-old woman, Caroline Chebet, suspected of fatally stabbing her husband, 27-year-old Alphonse Ochieng, at their home in Rongai constituency.

The incident reportedly occurred after a domestic dispute between the couple, who neighbours say had a history of frequent arguments. Attempts to reconcile them had reportedly been unsuccessful.

One neighbour, Ochieng Otieno, described the disturbance: "Their wrangles started at midnight and it was normal to us because they always scuffle. We heard the lady screaming saying that someone's child will die and we thought those are their private matters, so no neighbor stepped out. We later heard that he died."

Alphonse's brother, Stephen Otieno, recounted arriving at the hospital and learning of the stabbing: "I was referred to Annex Mortuary where I found my brother lying there with a stab wound. He was stabbed deep in the abdomen. I came here to view his body." He also noted that concerns had been raised about his brother marrying an older woman.

Rongai OCPD Daniel Birech confirmed the arrest and stated that Caroline Chebet is currently held in police custody awaiting arraignment scheduled for Monday. The deceased's body is being preserved at Nakuru Level 5 Hospital's annex pending a postmortem examination later in the week.
