The United Arab Emirates has outlined six essential criteria that foreign nationals must satisfy to be eligible for an entry visa. These rules are derived from the UAE's federal legislation and apply across various visa categories.
Six Conditions for UAE Entry Visa
- Valid Passport: Applicants must hold a passport or travel document recognized by the UAE, valid for at least six months from the date of travel.
- No Entry Ban: The applicant must not be listed on any UAE entry prohibition lists.
- No Previous Deportation: Individuals with a record of deportation from the UAE are ineligible.
- Return or Onward Ticket: Proof of onward travel or departure from the UAE is mandatory.
- Health Insurance: Valid health insurance coverage within the UAE is required.
- Authority Discretion: UAE immigration authorities retain the right to approve or decline visa applications after reviewing submitted documents and fees.
Types of Entry Visas
Once these conditions are met, the UAE Immigration and Citizenship Authority may issue single or multiple entry visas based on the applicant’s purpose of visit. Visa categories include:
- Tourism
- Visiting relatives or friends
- Business missions or exploring business opportunities
- Medical treatment
- Study or training
- Courtesy visits
The legislation also allows for visas to be granted for purposes outside these categories if the applicant can justify their visit's legitimacy.
These regulations underscore the UAE’s commitment to controlled and secure entry, balancing openness with national security concerns.
