Two military personnel lost their lives when an AH-64 Apache attack helicopter crashed in central Texas on Wednesday.

The crash occurred around 1:33 PM local time in fields south of Salado village. Responding officers found the wreckage and a rapidly spreading fire at the scene.

The helicopter was assigned to Fort Hood, a major US Army base nearby. The Bell County Sheriff's Office confirmed the fatalities at the site.
