A South Sudanese mother from Twic County, Warrap State, has been unable to leave a Nairobi hospital since April after giving birth to quadruplets. The family faces a staggering medical bill amounting to KSh 8.5 million (approximately US$66,000).
Arual Ring Majok's pregnancy was classified as high-risk, prompting intensive medical care for her and the babies. Tragically, one of the newborns passed away shortly after birth, while the remaining three have since stabilized and left specialized care.
Despite the improvement in the babies' health, Arual and her surviving children remain hospitalized due to the unpaid bill. The hospital is also reportedly holding the deceased infant's body pending settlement of the charges, delaying the family's ability to conduct a burial.
Community Appeals for Support
The Twic Community youth leader in Nairobi, Aguek Biar Mawien, has called on the South Sudanese government, well-wishers, and the public to assist the family in clearing the outstanding fees. The aim is to enable Arual and her children to return home and lay their lost child to rest.
