Early Thursday morning, a Toyota Sienta carrying passengers from Nairobi to Meru crashed off the Embu-Meru Highway near Kaura Mijii.
The vehicle, traveling from Chuka towards Chogoria, lost control between Giampampo Stage and Mitheru before veering off the road and plunging into a ditch. The impact caused significant damage, with parts such as the engine and wheels scattered at the scene.
Eyewitnesses reported the severity of the crash, which involved a group en route from Ngara, Nairobi, to Tigania, Meru, to attend a business associate's burial.
Authorities are still assessing the number of casualties and injuries resulting from the accident, with rescue and investigation efforts ongoing.
