During the launch of the Beyond Vision 2030 national conversation, seven-year-old Adrian Gweth presented a touching vision of Kenya’s future to President William Ruto. Adrian expressed hopes for a country where children have access to quality education, healthcare, and clean water, with safe and happy families.
Addressing the President, Adrian said, “In 2060, I will be 41 years old. My dream for Kenya is good schools for all children, good hospitals for everyone, and clean water for every home.” He also emphasized the importance of protecting wildlife and maintaining peace across the nation.
The Beyond Vision 2030 initiative aims to chart Kenya’s development path beyond the current Vision 2030 framework. It focuses on areas critical to economic and social transformation, including:
- Economic transformation and prosperity
- Industrialisation and value addition
- Jobs, skills development, and youth empowerment
- Technology, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation
- World-class infrastructure
- Quality education and human capital development
- Accessible and affordable healthcare
- Food security and climate resilience
- National wealth and strategic investments
- Strong institutions and good governance
The national conversation is designed to engage Kenyans, opposition leaders, and other stakeholders to contribute ideas shaping the country’s long-term development agenda.
Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi clarified that President Ruto has not unilaterally developed a new vision. Instead, the process will be inclusive, anchored in the Constitution, and driven by public participation to determine Kenya’s future direction beyond 2030.
