President William Ruto on Tuesday officiated the graduation ceremony for over 5,000 Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruits at the Recruits Training School in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. The recruits completed a rigorous nine-month training programme preparing them for service in the national military.
Joining the President at the event were Chief of Defence Forces Lieutenant General Charles Kahariri and Defence Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya.
Call for Discipline and Commitment
In his remarks, President Ruto urged the new recruits to maintain high standards of discipline and exercise prudent judgment as they take on their duties. He emphasized that the KDF’s mission goes beyond safeguarding Kenya’s borders.
“The Kenya Defence Forces must not only defend the country as it is today but also secure the nation Kenya aspires to be,” Ruto stated. He highlighted the military's crucial role in upholding constitutional order, fostering national unity, and protecting the country’s future interests.
