President William Ruto has initiated a national conversation to develop Kenya Vision 2060, a long-term development blueprint designed to succeed Vision 2030. The move reflects the need to adapt Kenya’s growth strategy to rapid technological advances, artificial intelligence, and climate change, which have significantly transformed the global landscape.

Speaking at the launch event on Wednesday, President Ruto emphasized that Vision 2030, formulated before the 2010 Constitution, no longer fits Kenya’s current realities. He noted that the new framework must transcend individual administrations and political cycles, ensuring continuity and broad ownership by all Kenyans.

"We are having this conversation now because Vision 2030 will come to an end, and the world has changed," Ruto said. He urged citizens to actively engage and share their ideas to help shape the country’s trajectory over the next 30 years.

Inclusive Process Beyond Politics

  • The national dialogue invites participation from political leaders, including opposition figures, experts, institutions, and stakeholders across all 47 counties.
  • Ruto stressed the importance of separating long-term development planning from electoral politics, encouraging constructive input from all sides.
  • Treasury Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi clarified that the vision is a collective national effort, not a project owned by the current administration.
