Authorities in Ruiru, Kiambu County, have launched an investigation following the discovery of a woman’s body inside a rented single-room house in Kihunguro.
Mercy Kananu Bundi, aged 33, was found unresponsive by her younger sister who returned home around 7:30 pm. The sister reported the door was closed but unlocked, with a window slightly open. After failing to get a response, she looked through the window and saw Mercy lying face down on the floor.
Other tenants assisted in opening the door before the police were alerted. Upon arrival, officers noted that Mercy had bleeding from the nose, strangulation marks on her neck, and visible injuries on her upper arms.
The body was taken to General Kago Hospital mortuary pending an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
Meanwhile, Mercy’s husband is currently missing and is being sought by police as part of the ongoing investigations. Authorities have not yet established a motive for the suspected murder.
