Sponsored by Samburu West MP Naisula Lesuuda, the legislation aims to improve safety for pedestrians and cyclists, who currently face high risks on roads dominated by motorised traffic.

- Road authorities including KeNHA, KeRRA, and KURA will be required to plan and construct facilities for non-motorised transport on roads they manage.

- Dedicated lanes and walkways will be physically separated from motorised traffic, while pedestrian crossings will be established at safer points.

It now awaits President William Ruto's assent before becoming law. Once enacted, road agencies will be tasked with implementing these requirements on both new projects and selected existing roads.
