Matungulu MP Stephen Mule has raised concerns over the government's proposed Vision 2060 framework, suggesting it closely follows the blueprint of the previously shelved Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
Speaking during a televised interview on August 13, 2026, Mule argued that the Vision 2060 process is essentially a revival of the BBI agenda, merely rebranded under a different title. He pointed out that key documents from the current national dialogue have replaced references to BBI with the term National Convention Initiative (NCI).
"The language and structure of Vision 2060 appear to be lifted directly from what was known as BBI," Mule stated. He cautioned that the opposition, including his party Wiper, is closely monitoring the government's approach and intends to challenge attempts to repurpose BBI ideas.
The government launched Vision 2060 consultations as a successor to Vision 2030, describing it as a long-term development framework designed to transcend political administrations. President William Ruto has emphasized the process as a national conversation involving broad public and stakeholder participation.
However, Mule dismissed the initiative as a genuine development plan, interpreting it as a political strategy aimed at regaining voter support amid what he described as growing public dissatisfaction with the ruling administration.
He added, "This is not a true national conversation but a strategy to revive BBI under a new guise while touring counties to engage voters."
