Tetu Constituency Member of Parliament Geoffrey Wandeto has raised concerns that corruption poses a significant risk to Kenya’s long-term development goals, including the upcoming Vision 2060 plan.
In a recent interview on August 13, 2026, Wandeto described corruption as the "elephant in the room" that must be confronted to safeguard national development efforts. He warned that without tackling this issue, Kenya’s Vision 2030, Vision 2060, and even Vision 2100 could be compromised.
Calls for Review of Vision 2030
The MP also questioned the timing of launching Vision 2060, noting that the country has yet to conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the current Vision 2030 blueprint. He emphasized the importance of understanding what aspects of Vision 2030 succeeded, which ones failed, and how these lessons should shape future strategies.
“We need to ask what went right, what went wrong, and what can be improved or salvaged before moving forward,” Wandeto explained.

Wandeto’s remarks highlight the need for accountability and evidence-based planning as Kenya prepares for its next development phase. He stressed that without addressing corruption and strengthening institutions, ambitious plans under Vision 2060 risk falling short.
