Authorities in Nyeri County are investigating the death of a 40-year-old man, Mutua Wanjohi, who was found electrocuted next to a Kenya Power transformer in Mathari Location.
Preliminary findings suggest Wanjohi came into contact with live electricity while allegedly attempting to dismantle the transformer. Items such as a ladder and various transformer parts, believed to be used in the suspected vandalism, were recovered at the scene.
Police officers, Kenya Power officials, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and scenes-of-crime personnel from Nyeri Central Sub-County responded promptly to the incident. Wanjohi’s body was transported to Nyeri Provincial General Hospital mortuary, where it awaits an autopsy.
