Linda Mwananchi has appealed to Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja to secure the safety of supporters before the upcoming political rally in Homa Bay scheduled for Sunday, August 16, 2026.
At a press briefing on Wednesday, August 12, the movement's spokesperson, Caroli Omondi, expressed concerns about alleged plans to obstruct the rally. According to Omondi, there are intentions to deploy disruptors near Kabunde Airstrip and block key access points into Homa Bay town, including bridges. Additionally, there are reports of threats around hotels where rally participants are expected to stay.
Calls for Police Protection
Omondi urged the police to take these warnings seriously and provide robust security measures to safeguard attendees. He emphasized the importance of allowing the rally to proceed peacefully, ensuring that residents and political supporters can exercise their constitutional rights without fear or intimidation.
Political Leaders Encourage Participation
- Babu Owino, Embakasi East MP: Encouraged Homa Bay residents not to be intimidated and to attend the rally as planned, reaffirming that the event will not be canceled despite security concerns.

All leaders called on the National Police Service to uphold their constitutional duty by facilitating peaceful political gatherings and protecting all participants in Homa Bay.
