Kenya’s men’s volleyball team, the Wafalme Stars, are gearing up for their inaugural appearance at the 2026 CAVB African Men’s Nations Championship, set for September 7-21 in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. This tournament marks a significant milestone as Kenya seeks to establish itself among Africa’s volleyball elite and lay the groundwork for qualification to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.

The team has commenced intensive non-residential training sessions at Nairobi’s Nyayo Gymnasium, backed by both the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) and the Ministry of Sports. KVF deputy president Paul Bitok highlighted the federation’s commitment to providing the men’s team with equal support and exposure, similar to that enjoyed by the women’s Malkia Strikers.

Bitok noted the progress made over the past three years, citing recent successes such as a silver medal at the All-Africa Games and a third-place finish in youth competitions. He expressed confidence in the squad’s blend of youthful talent from the KVF National League and experienced professionals returning from overseas engagements.

Preparation and Support
