The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) is evaluating a proposal to establish a new roadside station at Salgaa along the Rironi-Mau Summit Highway, a stretch currently undergoing expansion.
The initiative was put forward by Women in Real Estate (WIRE), who seek to partner with KeNHA to develop a facility that enhances safety and offers improved amenities for motorists on this busy route.
Addressing a Dangerous Black Spot
Salgaa has long been identified as a high-risk area for road accidents, with a tragic history including a 2009 oil tanker fire that claimed 140 lives after locals attempted to collect spilled fuel. More recently, fatal crashes continue to occur, underscoring the need for improved road safety measures.
