The 2026 National Sevens Circuit shifts focus to Nairobi this weekend as the Kabeberi 7s tournament kicks off at the RFUEA Grounds on August 15 and 16. Kabras Sugar, currently topping the standings with 41 points, aims to consolidate their lead, while defending champions KCB Rugby look to narrow the margin.
Title Race Intensifies in Pool D
Kabras Sugar has made a strong start to the season, finishing second at the Prinsloo 7s and winning the Dala 7s earlier this month, establishing a six-point advantage over KCB Rugby. However, both teams are drawn in Pool D alongside MMUST RFC and Nakuru RFC, setting up a highly competitive group.
KCB began the circuit on a high note by winning the Prinsloo 7s but faced a setback in Kisumu after being eliminated in the quarter-finals by Kenya Harlequin. With the Kabeberi 7s on home turf, KCB will be eager to reclaim momentum and challenge Kabras’s dominance.
Other Key Pools and Contenders
- Pool A: Kenya Harlequin (third overall with 30 points) leads alongside Daystar Falcons, Kisumu RFC, and Impala RFC. Harlequin’s recent strong performances position them as contenders.
- Pool B: Features Mwamba RFC, Strathmore Leos, Nondescripts RFC, and CUEA Monks, all seeking valuable points to improve their standings.
- Pool C: Headed by Menengai Oilers, fourth with 26 points, alongside Zetech Oaks, KU Blak Blad, and Mombasa RFC. The Oilers’ semi-final run at the Dala 7s has boosted their confidence.
Division Two and Women’s Tournament
The Kabeberi 7s also hosts a 16-team Division Two competition grouped into four pools featuring university and club teams such as Homeboyz RFC and Kabarak University. Additionally, an eight-team women’s tournament will take place, including Dala 7s champions Mwamba Ladies and Kenya Harlequin Women.
