Siaya County Governor James Orengo has welcomed Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro to the Linda Mwananchi political movement following Nyoro's departure from the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

During a media briefing on Monday, August 17, 2026, Nyoro confirmed his exit from UDA and his decision to join the People’s Party of Kenya. Orengo expressed optimism about their collaboration, emphasizing that their partnership under Linda Mwananchi marks a fresh start.

Orengo stated: "I look forward to working with you as Linda Mwananchi. We have worked before, but now as leaders of political parties, our work begins anew. We will sit down and collaborate closely."

Nyoro's move comes after months of distancing himself from the Kenya Kwanza government and has sparked renewed political interest in the opposition landscape ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Orengo highlighted concerns about financial expenditures at State House, questioning the source and scale of funds being disbursed. He urged Kenyans to demand transparency from President William Ruto, stating that public funds should be accounted for regardless of the person in power.

On the financial issue, Orengo remarked: "Even if you are Elon Musk, you cannot be giving that kind of money without being asked where you have gotten it from."

Nyoro, once a key ally of President Ruto and the Kenya Kwanza coalition, has now aligned himself with opposition forces, signaling potential realignments as political players position for the upcoming elections. His decision followed extensive consultations across party lines.

This development could strengthen opposition unity, with Orengo’s invitation marking a significant step in Nyoro’s deeper engagement with opposition leaders.
