Isiolo County has kicked off an extensive campaign to register residents for national identification cards and voter registration, aiming to ensure every eligible individual obtains these essential documents.

The initiative was announced during a meeting that gathered local chiefs, assistant chiefs, and representatives from key institutions including the Kenya School of Government (KSG), the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), and the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Professor Nura Mohamed, Director of KSG, emphasized the need for intensified public awareness and active registration to reach all eligible residents.

Discussions at the meeting also tackled pressing security challenges in the county, such as cattle rustling, banditry, and drug abuse. Attendees called on politicians and their supporters to maintain peace throughout the registration process.

Isiolo County Commissioner Chaunga Mwachaunga assured that security agencies will provide full support to facilitate the registration exercise, which is set to roll out across all 10 wards in the county.
