Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale’s family compound in Malinya, Ikolomani Constituency, has drawn fresh attention following the recent passing of his third wife, Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale. New footage circulating online offers a rare glimpse into the layout and unique architecture of the sprawling estate.

The compound comprises individual bungalows for each of Khalwale’s four wives, designed to provide distinct living spaces while maintaining a unified family environment. Each wife’s home stands separately within the compound, creating a neighbourhood-like setting.

Central to the estate is Khalwale’s own private residence, a large, circular bungalow with cream walls and red roofing tiles. The design has been described as resembling a "king’s mansion," with a cathedral-like appearance that sets it apart from the other houses.

Unlike the wives’ bungalows, the senator’s home is a personal retreat where he enjoys privacy and reflection. His children are welcome visitors, but the wives do not live there. This arrangement allows Khalwale to move easily between his residence and any of his wives’ homes within the compound.

Family Tragedies and Compound Dynamics

The renewed interest in the compound comes amid sorrow for the Khalwale family. Gloria Sekeiyan Khalwale died on August 15, 2026, after collapsing at the family home. This loss follows the death of Khalwale’s first wife, Adelaide Shikanga Khalwale, in October 2019. Both deaths occurred on Saturday mornings, a detail that has touched the public discourse around the estate.

With 17 children, Khalwale’s deliberate design of the compound reflects his effort to maintain harmony and fairness within a large polygamous household. The separate bungalows for each wife and the senator’s own distinct residence underline a structured approach to family living.

The recent video offers a closer look at the senator’s personal space and the architectural features that make the Malinya estate a notable landmark in Ikolomani.
