Security agencies in Isiolo County have confiscated an illegal firearm and five rounds of ammunition during a targeted operation aimed at curbing banditry and illegal arms possession.
The recovery took place on Thursday, August 13, 2026, in Kakili, Burat Location, following an intelligence-led raid. Authorities apprehended a man identified as a bandit linked to recent armed assaults and livestock theft in the region.
The weapon and ammunition are currently held by the police as investigations continue to establish ownership and any connections to criminal activities.
Operation Dumisha Amani Continues
This seizure comes amid ongoing efforts under Operation Dumisha Amani, a multi-agency drive involving various security units collaborating to combat banditry, livestock rustling, and illegal arms trafficking across northern Kenya.
The National Police Service emphasized the critical role of community cooperation, urging residents to keep providing intelligence to aid security operations.
