The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced a new colour-coded system for ballot papers and ballot box lids to be used in the 2027 General Election.
This initiative assigns a specific colour to each of the six elective positions Kenyans will vote for, aiming to simplify the voting process and minimise confusion at polling stations.
Designated Colours for Ballot Papers and Boxes
- President: White
- Member of National Assembly: Green
- Senator: Yellow
- Governor: Light Blue
- Women Representative: Purple
- Member of County Assembly (MCA): Beige
The colour of each ballot paper will correspond with the lid of its respective ballot box, facilitating a smoother voting experience for both voters and election officials.
Voter Registration Reminder
Alongside the colour scheme unveiling, IEBC has urged all eligible Kenyans who have yet to register to do so promptly. Registration can be completed at IEBC constituency offices, Huduma Centres nationwide, or the IEBC Customer Experience Centre at Anniversary Towers in Nairobi.
With six key positions up for election — president, senator, governor, women representative, member of the National Assembly, and MCA — the commission emphasises early preparation to ensure full participation in the 2027 polls.
