A man reportedly cancelled his church wedding after the bride’s church presented an extensive list of demands that needed to be fulfilled before the ceremony could proceed.
The list, shared on Facebook by Ngoke Victor Dede on August 5, 2026, included various items such as food, cash payments, transport, and clothing, sparking debate on social media about the commercialization of religious weddings.

- A live goat and two bags of rice for the pastor and his wife
- 50 litres of fuel for a generator
- Transportation for the General Overseer
- A suit for the General Overseer and a gown for his wife
- About KSh5,300 for the marriage certificate
- A cooler of rice and 24 crates of soft drinks
- Approximately KSh3,200 for the church band
- Ten ministers each to receive packaged food, two crates of soft drinks, and around KSh10,600
- Musicians also to receive two crates of soft drinks and about KSh5,300 each
The document reportedly stated that the music and sound system would not be activated unless these requirements were met prior to the wedding.
