Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has resumed his grassroots outreach in Kajiado County as part of efforts to expand the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

On Wednesday, August 12, 2026, Gachagua, accompanied by his wife, Rev. Dorcas Rigathi, visited Kipeto in Keekonyokie Ward, Kajiado West. The visit marked a celebration of Ann Nashipae's academic success. Nashipae is among the DCP aspirants vying for the Kajiado County Woman Representative seat, signalling the party's intent to broaden its influence beyond its traditional Mount Kenya stronghold.

Gachagua stated: "Kajiado County is truly home. Accompanied by my spouse, Rev. Dorcas Rigathi, I have arrived at Kipeto in Keekonyokie Ward, Kajiado West, to celebrate the educational achievement of Ann Nashipae, one of the DCP Party aspiring candidates for Woman Representative in Kajiado County."

In recent weeks, the former deputy president has intensified his nationwide political engagements under the DCP banner, visiting various regions to galvanize support. His return to Kajiado aligns with heightened political activity as parties and candidates position themselves for the upcoming elections.

The visit also provided a platform for DCP leadership to engage local aspirants and residents, strengthening party structures and identifying candidates for elective posts. Gachagua’s presence alongside his wife underscored the party’s emphasis on community and social issues, using the educational celebration as an entry point.

Welcoming Kajiado MCAs to DCP

Just two days prior, on August 10, Gachagua formally welcomed ten Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) from Kajiado into the DCP fold. Among them was Minority Leader Isaac Kiresian of Magadi Ward, along with Joseph Torris (Ewuaso Oonkidongi Ward) and Edward Lemomo (Kuku Ward), all defectors from ODM.

Sharing the development on social media, Gachagua described the influx as evidence of growing grassroots support for his party.

He has consistently highlighted that the DCP aims to empower ordinary citizens and build an inclusive political platform. With the 2027 polls approaching, Gachagua’s outreach beyond his home region is set to remain a core strategy as DCP seeks to establish a nationwide presence.
