The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has initiated a comprehensive talent identification program targeting Under-15 boys and girls across the country. This effort aims to assemble a competitive national squad for the upcoming CAF African Schools Football Championship 2026 CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers.
FKF-trained scouts, coaches, and technical officers are conducting the selection process in various regions, starting with Nairobi. The exercise involves evaluating young players’ skills and potential to represent Kenya in international competitions.
Selection Process Underway
- FKF Technical Officer Susan Wanjiru confirmed that regional selection lists have been compiled as the exercise progresses.
- Lead Scout George Ondula emphasized the importance of identifying players capable of competing at the African championships.
- Coach Jerim Ouma noted that the grassroots approach allows young talents to be discovered and nurtured.
The selection is expected to last approximately two weeks, after which the best performers from regional trials will advance to the national team level. These players will then prepare to represent Kenya in upcoming international fixtures, including the CECAFA Zonal Qualifiers for the CAF African Schools Football Championship.
