The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has announced the death of Silas Cheboi, its Assistant Director for Surveillance and Enforcement.
EPRA described Cheboi as a committed public servant whose professionalism and integrity significantly advanced the authority’s regulatory efforts in Kenya’s energy and petroleum sector.
In a statement, the authority expressed deep sorrow over the loss, highlighting Cheboi’s pivotal role in ensuring compliance with laws governing the energy industry through rigorous surveillance and enforcement.
"His passing is a profound loss to the Authority, his colleagues, and all those who had the privilege of working with him," EPRA said.
Cheboi’s dedication and steadfastness in fulfilling his duties left a lasting impression on his peers and stakeholders alike. His work helped protect consumer interests and uphold regulatory standards across the sector.
EPRA extended heartfelt condolences to Cheboi’s family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time.
He is scheduled to be laid to rest on August 15, 2026, at his home in Solian, Eldama Ravine, Baringo County.
The authority affirmed that Cheboi’s legacy of professionalism and commitment to public service will continue to inspire those within EPRA and the wider energy community.
