Authorities in Eldoret are investigating the deaths of a young couple believed to be linked to a love triangle. The incident unfolded at their residence in Sogomo, near the University of Eldoret along Eldoret-Ziwa road.

Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Wilberforce Sicharani confirmed that the woman, aged 26 and a local school teacher, was discovered deceased inside the house with a container of poisonous chemical nearby. The 32-year-old man was found hanging from a tree within the compound using a manila rope.

Police recovered a suicide note from the man, which reportedly explained his reasons for taking his own life. Neighbours indicated that the man suspected his wife of having an affair with another man at her workplace. Some residents also suggested the possibility that the man forced the woman to ingest poison before hanging himself.

"We have taken the bodies to the mortuary and are conducting postmortems as part of our ongoing investigations," said Commander Sicharani. The bodies were taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary.

The incident has left the local community in shock. Police have urged individuals facing personal challenges to seek counselling and avoid resorting to violence or suicide.
